Summary

I am a PGA Fellow Professional of the British PGA for whom I am also a Coach Tutor. I am currently the Head Professional at Chingford Golf Course in London, England.

For many years I managed golf facilities as a contractor to local authorities and so my focus for was on that, however whilst (through my fantastic staff) I still manage facilities, my focus returned to coaching.

I joined the PGA at age 18 and everything I was taught at that time was based on the old ball flight laws. Having been away for coaching for some time I thought it would be a good idea to seek the views of some the best in the business and have been fortunate to pick the brains of some very clever people and would like to thank them for allowing me to do so.

These include: Jim Hardy, Chris O'Connell, Frederik Tuxen & Greg Rose, amongst a whole host of others. My goal is to help my students understand the impact conditions required to hit each shot. Golf is an incredibly difficult game made more difficult by incorrect analysis and information - I don't buy the argument that you have to get worse to get better! I firmly subscribe to the John Jacobs method - the only thing that matters is that impact is correct and repeatable - the method for achieving this is of no significance.

In my mind the correct method for any given player is the one that allows them to hit correct repeatable golf shots. If you subscribe to a method then Jim Furyk, Lee Trevino, Matt Kuchar and a whole host of other players with quirky looking swings need to give all their money back!

As a coach I want all the information I can get to analyse and subsequently improve the performance of my players. I believe that you have to completely understand any problems prior to describing any cures. As such I employ various technical equipment to help me in my role, the main ones being a Trackman IIIe and Trackman Video Software. The information Trackman supplies coupled with the knowledge I have gained during my career has allowed me to offer my students Guaranteed Improvement.
